Frequently asked questions

Quick answers about how BombTimer works, what’s free, and how to use it in your classroom or living room.

Is BombTimer really free?

Yes. The timer and three bombs are free to use forever, with no sign-up. We keep the lights on with a few unobtrusive ads and Amazon affiliate links. A one-time $4.99 unlock adds the other nine bombs if you want them.

Do I need to make an account?

Nope. No accounts, no logins, no email required. Open the page, pick a bomb, set the time, and go.

Is it safe for kids and classrooms?

Absolutely. The characters are friendly cartoons with zero gore or realism, the language is kid-appropriate, and there are no ads inside the running timer.

What devices does it work on?

Any modern browser: phones, tablets, laptops, and classroom smartboards. Nothing to install.

How do I set a custom time?

Start a timer, then choose a preset (1, 5, 10, 15, 30 minutes, or 1 hour) or tap “Custom…” to set any duration up to one hour. The −30s / +30s buttons nudge the time, and the stopwatch button lets you pick a new time without leaving the screen.

Does the timer make sound?

Only if you want it to. The timer starts silent by default. Tap the speaker button in the control bar at the bottom of the timer to turn on the fuse and boom effects; your choice is remembered. The reduced-motion toggle sits right next to it for motion-sensitive viewers.

What does the $4.99 unlock include?

All twelve bomb characters, unlocked forever, on up to 5 devices. One payment, no subscription, no recurring fees.

Is there a classroom license?

Yes. A one-time $14.99 classroom license covers up to 30 devices in your classroom, while the $4.99 personal unlock covers 5. Both live in the pricing section on the homepage.

Can I suggest a new bomb?

Please do! Head to the Suggest a bomb page and tell us what you’d like to see. We read every idea.

Can I use BombTimer in my classroom?

Yes. BombTimer is a free classroom timer that runs on any smartboard, computer, tablet, or phone, with no sign-up and no ads inside the timer. See our Teacher Tips page for ways to use it for cleanup, transitions, quizzes, and brain breaks.

How do I set a 5-minute bomb timer?

Start a timer and tap the “5 min” preset, or use “Custom…” to enter any length up to one hour. The −30s and +30s buttons fine-tune it. Popular lengths include 1, 2, 5, 10, 15, and 20 minute bomb timers.

How do I restore my unlock?

Your unlock is tied to your license key, so you can restore it on any device. Scroll to the footer of any page and click Restore your unlock in the Bombs column (the same link also sits under the buy buttons in the pricing section on the homepage). In the window that opens, paste the license key from your purchase email and click Restore my bombs. A personal key works on up to 5 devices and a classroom key on up to 30. If anything goes wrong, contact us and we will sort it out.

How many devices can I use my unlock on?

A personal unlock covers up to 5 devices at once, and a classroom license covers up to 30. The same license key works on every one of them: click Restore your unlock in the footer of any page, paste your key, and that device is added.

I got a new computer or phone. How do I move my unlock?

First free up a slot: on a device you no longer use, scroll to the footer and click Release this device. (On an unlocked device, the footer’s Restore your unlock link reads Release this device instead.) Then on your new computer or phone, click Restore your unlock in the footer and paste your license key. Lost access to the old device? Email [email protected] and we will free the slot for you.
